  • Offer a competitive price, based on what similar items are selling for.

  • Make your listings as complete as possible, with good quality images, a detailed description and all the relevant item specifics.

  • Keep your buyers happy by offering free or competitively priced postage, fast dispatch and a generous returns policy.

  • Become an eBay Top-rated Seller and get improved visibility in search results across all listings.

Google, Bing and other web search engines

Getting your listings to appear on external search engines can be an excellent way to get more views on your items.


Although search engines don’t tend to disclose exactly how they rank results, there are a few simple measures you can take to make your listings more search engine-friendly:

  • Pick 2 or 3 keywords that relate closely to your item and include them in your title and description. Use Google Trends to see how much search volume each keyword gets.
  • Use bold sub-headings to group information in your item description, and set your font size to between 12 and 14.
  • Always add product identifiers to your listings.
