Here are 7 tips to stand out in search results

  1. Title, subtitles and the item description
Make sure you’re creating the best listings possible by following our guidelines on writing great titles, descriptions and subtitles.

  2. Product identifiers and item specifics
Provide all of the item specifics recommended and required for your category, and select from the pre-filled list whenever possible. Adding parts compatibility to your parts & accessories listings may result in better conversion rates and fewer return requests.

For more information about what item specifics are required, head to our item specifics requirements page.

In addition, add product identifiers so that the search engine knows exactly what product you're selling and your listing is seen as more complete, and therefore more valuable and informative to the buyer.

  3. Price
Try to offer a competitive price based on what similar items are selling for. A great way to do this is by using the Terapeak research tool, to find out what to sell, when to sell it and at what price to stay competitive.

You can also check this by going to the Advanced Search page, enter your item details, and select “Sold Listings” to see what other sellers are listing for. Remember to consider postage as part of the price of your item.

  4. Use the right category
Choosing the right category could be all the difference between making a successful sale and your item getting lost in the crowd. Lots of buyers refine their searches by category - if your item is in the wrong place, it may not be found by the right buyer. Don’t put your listing in a category where it doesn’t fit. Select a second category for an additional fee, only when it is equally relevant to your item.

  5. Listing health
You need to make sure your listings comply with all of eBay’s policies. The key to visibility on eBay is following listing best practices and policy. Here are 2 important examples:
  6. Good ratings
Make sure your Detailed Seller ratings are positive. Sellers that have a history of keeping their customers happy are the sellers that do well in search. If you have low Detailed Seller Ratings, negative feedback or a buyer makes a claim against you, fewer people will trust you, and therefore less will buy from you.
